Wargames Scenery Trees and Hill

This is a site for expounding on my love of building scenery and terrain for wargames! I became interested in making wargames scenery through helping my son with his new found love of Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. As he learned to play, it became obvious that he needed a gaming table - so I built one. Then, it seemed a little bare and he was inspired by the scenery he found at his local Games Workshop store - so, I started to build scenery for his Warhammer games too. Soon I found that I was hooked - building the terrain for my son's games of Warhammer (and later Warhammer 40k) woke something in me that had been buried since my teenage years of building Airfix kits and dioramas to display them. Once a nerd, always a nerd according to my wife...

So - what is the site all about? Well, firstly it is a place for me to post articles on bits of wargames terrain I've built, plus the materials  & tools used to make them. As the mood takes me, I'll also include bits about using terrain in your wargames and I may even wax philosophical on the subject too. As I find good stuff on other websites I'll mention them to point you in the direction of some of the other great wargames scenery sites or pieces of terrain that are out there on the web. I'll include reviews of tools and materials plus maybe some scenery kit builds along the way. I'm learning as I go and don't pretend to be an expert, so if you are a beginner and new to making wargames scenery and terrain, you should find plenty here to help you along the way, from someone who was recently in the same boat.

The site mostly has a bias towards building terrain for Warhammer and Warhammer 40K, simply because that's what gets played around here. However, nothing will exclude other systems and scales. General techniques can translate quite well to other scales - whether  28mm, 15mm or 6mm - and other systems, so hopefully players of historical wargames, Flames of War and so on might find things of interest here too.

To use the site, you'll find a list of the most recent posts off to your left - click on anything that catches your eye. Also, posts on here are split into categories, the list of which you can also see to the left  - click on these for a list of the posts in that category, or see here:
