One thing that is guaranteed to alter the dynamics of a wargames battleground is a river. A lot of video gaming systems have some principle of harmful terrain rivers generally fall put bang into the middle of that specific category. In various other words, if a river splits your table in half, then the game is likely to end up all being about one side crossing the river and the various other trying to repel any type of river crossings. There are many means you can build terrain around a river - is it a wooded river valley? A high sided rocky gorge? A gentle rolling plain? Is there possibly a hamlet there? Whatever method you opt to set out your terrain around the river, the very best kind of river to have is a sectional one. That is, the river itself is made up of a number of pieces of terrain that can fit together in different means. I 'd suggest you 'd wish straight pieces and gentle curves - that means you can change the format of the river and various other terrain on your video gaming table in between games. Rivers constantly create for interesting games in my viewpoint - even if they are fordable, there is constantly the opportunity of losing soldiers and equipment in the crossing. If they cannot be crossed like that, and you have a bridge - then the game will likely turn on taking that bridge or defending it at all expenses.

Rivers can be made with appropriately cut and painted parts of MDF or hardboard, using cut polystyrene foam, acrylic decorators filler or similar to make the banks. A coat of gloss varnish will certainly create for a good water impact. Additionally, you can use any of the expert water impacts that you could purchase, made specifically to use in making wargames scenery. A thin layer of this looks very efficient. Add some small rocks in the flow of the river and usage filler to make the foam of water hurrying round them - let your imagination run wild! If this all seems like excessive effort, you could purchase ready made river sections that just need painting, or in some cases even ready painted too.

Whatever way you go, I 'd suggest adding a river to your wargames scenery collection.
